Privacy Statement

Purpose

The Dutch Media Authority processes personal data of supervised parties, parties with whom it has an agreement or third parties with the aim of carrying out its public task of supervising or implementing the said agreements. Personal data is data that can be traced back to a natural person, such as a name, address, e-mail address, or telephone number. For example, if you ask a question, apply for a permit, or register an activity, your data will be processed. You can expect the Dutch Media Authority to handle your data with care. The general rule we apply is that we do not provide your data to third parties, except when this is necessary for the performance of an agreement or our public task. Furthermore, we will not disclose information that can be traced back to you personally without your consent, unless we are required by law to do so.

Retention

Personal data that is sent by e-mail, by post, via the website, or via other means of communication (electronic or otherwise), will be kept for as long as they are necessary for the performance of the public task or the relevant agreement, or as long as the law prescribes.

Insight

In accordance with Article 35, paragraph 1 of the Personal Data Protection Act, you can request in writing to inspect the personal data concerning you that the Dutch Media Authority processes. If the overview provided by the Dutch Media Authority in response to your request contains inaccuracies, you can ask the Dutch Media Authority to correct, supplement, or delete the data.

Cookies and privacy

The website of the Dutch Media Authority uses cookies. A cookie is a file sent along with pages from this website and is stored by your browser on the hard drive of your computer. With your permission, we place tracking cookies on your computer. We use these cookies to keep track of which pages you visit, how often you visit our site, and at what times. The statistical data is maintained with the help of Google Analytics. The data Google Analytics collects is made anonymous as much as possible. Your IP address will not be registered.

Security

The Dutch Media Authority has taken technical and organizational measures to protect your data against theft, loss, or misuse. A Data Protection Officer has been appointed within the Dutch Media Authority who is responsible for internal supervision of the careful handling of your personal data.

Complaint

If you believe that the Dutch Media Authority is not correctly following the legislation regarding the protection of personal data towards you, you can submit a complaint to the Data Protection Officer of the Dutch Media Authority by e-mail via fg@cvdm.nl.
